Reserve a computer using your library card and PIN to make sure a computer is available for you when you arrive at the library.
Public Computer Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log onto the computer? You need a library card in good standing to be able to use the public access computers at Columbus Public Library. You will need the number from your library card bar code and your 4-digit PIN number to log on. If you need help with either of these numbers, the friendly folks at the circulation desk can help.
How long can I use the computer? Computers are available to individual patrons for up to two hours (in two one hour increments) each day. The computer will track the amount of time in your session each time you log on.
Can I use the computer if I don't have a library card? Yes, visit the library's front desk to receive a guest pass that will allow you to log on with out a library card.
I've never used a computer. Can the staff teach me?
Limited assistance is provided as time permits. Patrons using the computer should know how to type and use a mouse. We encourage you to check out a book on computers which will help to increase your understanding before you use them. Of course, we are happy to help you find the right book for your computer skill level. You may also find our recommended links for learning computer and internet basics helpful.

Pages printed from computers and microfilm:
$0.10 per page for black and white; $0.20 per page for color
Copies made using copy machine:
$0.10 per page for black and white; $0.20 per page for color
$1.00 a page for outgoing faxes. We are unable to recieve inbound faxes.
Free of charge, you do however need to contact the library to make an appointment.

Meeting and Program Room
Columbus Public Library has a meeting room used primarily for the library's programs and events. This room is available to community groups and nonpartisan, non-profit organizations for meetings and other events. If you are interested in using our meeting room, please read our Room Use Policy and then give us a call at 920-623-5910 to see if the room is available when you need it. Finally, fill out our Meeting Room Form and we'll add you to the schedule.

Do you provide babysitting services during meetings/tutoring? No, it is suggested that groups provide their own babysitters during activities at the library.
Where can I find a listing of meetings and programs? Check the calendar on our website for upcoming library events. Non-library events will not be listed on this calendar, which is why we ask you to please call regarding the room's availibility.

Borrow Materials via Free Postal Service
If it is difficult for you to come in to the library, we can send materials to you with no charge for shipping! Our staff members can send you specific requested items or help you select new materials that match your interests.
This service is available for Columbus Public Library patrons who are blind, deaf, reading disabled, visually and/or physically handicapped and meet the eligibility requirements listed below. Please call 623-5910 for an application or call to talk to Sue Mathwich.
- Blind: Visual acuity of 20/20 or less in the better eye with correcting glasses or the widest diameter of visual field subtending an angular distance no greater than 20 degrees.
- Moderate hearing impairment: Some difficulty hearing and understanding speech.
- Physical Handicap: Unable to hold a book or turn pages as a result of physical limitations. Examples include: without arms or the use of arms; impaired or weakened muscle and nerve control; limitations resulting from strokes, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, polio, arthritis, or similar conditions; and individuals who are homebound due to illness or injury.
- Profound hearing impairment: Cannot hear or understand speech.
- Reading disability: Organic dysfunction of sufficient severity to prevent reading printed materials in a normal manner.
- Visual handicap: Lacks visual acuity to read standard printed materials without special aids or devices other than regular glasses.
Do you need supplemental materials for your lesson plans?
By working together we can help your students succeed! Our staff members will be happy to make arrangements for checking out multiple copies of the same book for classroom use or help assemble collections of books and audiovisual materials on a particular theme to supplement lessons. Popular collection topics have included seasons, fire safety, and community helpers. We can also help you check out with oversized storybooks and flannel story sets whenever possible.
Many teacher collection materials are sent to us from other libraries, so it can take some time for all of them to be delivered. Please contact us at least two weeks before you plan to use the collection. Service is limited to Columbus and Fall River schools.
