We're trying something new: storytime at the park! Our regular Family Storytime will be held outside at Village Park in Fall River this summer. Once a month, combine outdoor play with stories, songs and rhymes for a beautiful evening in the park. Family Storytime is held throughout the year one evening a month to offer families a chance to attend storytime together. All ages are encouraged to attend, with stories geared toward preschool and elementary aged kids and opportunities for older siblings to assist with the activity.
Family Storytimes this summer will be on June 10th, July 8th, and August 5th, at 6:00pm at Village Park in Fall River. The park is located near the school, at the corner of Bradley and Kane streets. Check the library’s Facebook or right here for weather related updates.
We serve not only residents of Columbus, but residents of Fall River and the surrounding area as well. The shift to hosting Family Storytime at Village Park in Fall River is part of an effort to expand outreach services beyond the walls of the library and to encourage Fall River residents to take advantage of the services the library has to offer. Other efforts from this past year include outreach visits to the 4K classes in Fall River as well as a High School book club, in which the Youth Services Librarian, Meg Kaster, visits the schools, encouraging early literacy skills and a continued love of reading.
