The successful candidate for this fulltime position will have an MLS degree with knowledge and experience in children’s, family and teen services. A team player with leadership skills, experience, and dedication in pursuing on-going professional growth and development would be a great fit for this position. Located ½ hour from Madison’s Eastside, Columbus has a population of 5,000, serves an additional 10,000 people from a tri-county area and is in the South Central Library System.
Performs professional Youth Services Librarian duties including: programming for newborns to teens, analysis and maintenance for youth and teen collections, engagement with area schools and daycare centers, planning and participation in community-wide events, selecting all children’s and teen materials, providing reader’s advisory, managing Library Pages, and leading the Program Team. Additional duties include: acting as Librarian-in-Charge as needed, some managerial and administrative support, some bigger picture thinking. To provide wonderful programs for kids, teens and families, as well as pursuing your own professional development opportunities, you will definitely be working some nights and weekends, so flexibility is a must. Annual salary is $41,000 with a full benefits package.
