Summer Reading Program is Underway

Parents and caregivers, why should kids and teens read during the summer? It is summer break, after all; kids deserve a break, right? Well, of course they do. Just be sure reading is part of fun time. After all, children who don’t read over the summer lose 3 months of reading comprehension. That loss is accumulative – by the end of 6th grade these kids are 2 school years behind their peers. Don’t let kids lose reading skills this summer. Reading as few as 4 books keeps kids at their current reading levels.

Kids, you can read ANYTHING to be eligible for prizes.

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier

With a husband she barely knew, a young bride arrives at an immense estate, only to be drawn into the life of the first Mrs. de Winter, the beautiful Rebecca, dead but never forgotten. It was all still there, her suite of rooms never touched, her clothes ready to be worn, and her servant—the sinister Mrs. Danvers—still loyal. With a feeling of evil tightened around her heart, the second Mrs. de Winter began her search for the real fate of Rebecca...for the secrets of Manderley.
