Meeting Minutes
Friends of the Columbus Public Library
October 5, 2011

Board Members Present: Becky Cascio, Amber Staude

Library Liaison Present: Peggy Kindschi

Others Present: Wendy Herrmann, Wendy Simyab, and Cheryl (SP)

Proceedings:

Becky Cascio steps down as Vice President. Wendy Simyab steps in for President. Thank you, Becky, for your donations of materials and time to our cause. It was appreciated. Welcome Wendy to the Friends board!

Peggy distributes the new Columbus Library newsletter, which can be picked up at the library, schools, and local businesses. The Friends would like to sponsor an event or two in the upcoming events listed.

The Holiday Parade will be on November 25, 2011. Patti England is in charge of the library’s  float. Let’s get a committee together to help her out! We’ll post the meeting time when we can gather our ideas and resources for the float in the next couple weeks. Wendy Simyab will be calling the head of the parade to see if we can sell anything at the parade, such as hot cocoa.

The Friends are holding a book sale in November. The Pinney Branch of the Madison Public Library will let us pick from their leftover books from their book sale on Monday, November 7. Wendy Herrmann will talk to the leader of the book sale at The Pinney Branch to get more information. Amber is working on the selling space, time, and aftermath of the Columbus book sale. Wendy Simyab has space and carts to hold the books for sorting.

Other News:

Perhaps a winter program can be in our near future. If anyone has ideas for us, please share them! Some starting ideas are reading to/with seniors, coffee with friends, game night.

We still need a treasurer and now a vice president. These are not heavy responsibilities, but make for an even distribution of the board activity.
