Check out the New Early Literacy Computer

There’s something new in the Children’s Area located in the lower level of the library. Have you seen it? If you have younger kids who like to hang out at the library, I bet you have. It’s a new computer just for kids.

Columbus Public Library’s new Early Literacy Station is a user-friendly all-in-one digital learning station for kids between the ages of two and eight. It is not connected to the Internet, so caretakers can feel safe and secure about kids’ computer experience. It features more than 60 pre-loaded software titles on topics ranging from letter and number recognition for the younger set to homework help for school-age kids. It’s bright, active and attractive to kids and offers so much more than a simple computer game ever could. Children can operate the computer with the mouse and keyboard or use its touchscreen features that mimic smart phones and tablet technologies. It’s reading, math and computer literacy all rolled into one.

If there’s a kiddo in your life who might like to noodle around on this new computer, stop by. But be sure to bring something to do. Kids can get wrapped up in the fun and educational games for as long as you’ll let them.
