Attention Columbus-area Artists & Craftspeople!

The Columbus Public Library is exploring ways to raise awareness of the arts and deepen connections in the community. We want to gauge local interest in the opportunity to rent studio/work space in the Library Annex (251 W James St.) at an affordable rate to be negotiated, along with a commitment to partner with the library in offering creative public programs and/or art installations.

Gear Up for Arbor Day!

Spring is here and Arbor Day is right around the corner! The city of Columbus will host its annual Arbor Day Festival this year on Saturday, April 29th from 9am to 2pm at the Fireman’s park Pavilion located at 1049 Park Avenue.

It will be fun for the whole family! There will be live music, bake sale, brat fry, craft fair, as well as a scavenger hunt, face painting and bouncy house for the kids to enjoy.  The Friends of the Library will . . .

Need help finding the right tree?

Have you ever wondered where you should put a tree? Or what tree would work best for your yard? Certified Master Gardner Mary Jo Wentz is here to help! Mary Jo will be putting on a three part series at the Columbus Public Library entitled “The Right Tree in the Right Place”.

Road Construction!!

James Street (Hwy 16/60) Road Construction Began March 6th

Hwy 16/60 (James St) will be reconstructed from the Crawfish River to US Highway 151, beginning March 6th and concluding sometime in early fall of 2017. Plan ahead, as your usual route may change. Parking is available in the library lot as usual.

Volunteer Tutors Needed!

Looking for a way to volunteer and help other? Do you enjoy English? Than you could be a volunteer tutor for the Columbus Literacy Council!

There has been an increase in people seeking out help from the Columbus Literacy Council to improve their English skills and more volunteers are needed to meet the demand.
